Ichibata Electric Railway is a local line that runs from Matsue Shinji-ko Onsen Station on Shinji-ko Lake, then alongside the lake to Izumo Taisha-mae Station. This area was also the stage for a Japanese movie, Railways – a story of a man who became a train driver at the age of 49 years old., which was released in 2010).

From the train’s windows on a sunny day, you can see spectacular scenery, such as Ooyama Mountain, which is also called Izumo Fuji, and Chausuyama Mountain, where gods live, as well as many other interesting sights. Between Takahama Station and Yokan Station, the train crosses the approach to Awazu Inari Jinja Shrine, and riders can see the place where the vermillion torii (gateway) presents a beautiful rural landscape that is a popular photographic spot.
