The garden of Taimasan Shrine was once the northern garden of the library of the old Sonsho-ji Temple which was demolished by earthquake in 1872. A Karesansui type garden, it is made up of three artificial hills and contains three large stones representing three Buddhas. It is believed that the garden was built in the Edo period (1603 – 1868).
